Police Killing raises concern in S'Africa.

Four police officers have been killed in South Africa in three days, raising  concern over growing risk to police officers amid rampant crimes. The four police officer, three from Gauteng Province and one from Western cape were brutally killed in  the line of duty. The latest killing took place in Johannesburg on Friday morning when unidentified gunmen shot two on-duty police officers, the South Africa Police Service said. One of the two officers who were shot and wounded has died in the hospital, the SAPS said. Several suspect have been arrested in connection with the killing. On Wednesday, a police officer as stabbed to death in Cape Town after stopping to change a flat tyre. A day letter, another police was shot dead in a shoot-out with a group of robbers in Pretoria.

The news  of his death was made public by the president of the Golden Movie Ambassadors of Nigeria, Comrade Saidi Balogun  early  this morning.  The actor made wave in the early 90's in many  Yoruba movies. He was famous for his roles as leader of crime activities. He died at the age of 60.

The peace deal between Speaker Dogora and Gbajabiamila was worked out on Tuesday's afternoon in the office of the Clark while many of the House members were in the Chambers at a session presided over by the deputy speaker, Yusuf Lasun from Osun State. The prospects for peace at the beginning of that Tuesday, however, had not looked promising especially after supporters of Dogora after a meeting  resolved to heed the party's injunction for peace halfway. In their resolution  which they adopted as adopting the party's position as amended, they had resolved they would take the instructions of the party national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun by returning some of those nominated by the party for the principal offices: Ado Doguwa (kano) for House Leader,  Bala Jibrin(kogi) for Deputy Leader, Pally Iriase (Edo) for chief Whip and Chike Okafor (Imo) for Deputy Chief Whip. In adherence to the principle of federal character, the Dogora group at their last caucus meeting which ended sometime around 00.30hours on Tuesday morning had rejected the plea for Gbajabiamila to became House Leader on the premise that his Southwest zone had already produced the deputy speaker of the House. However, their will was however, reportedly broken later in the day upon pressures from the presidency that  weighed in for Gbajabiamila to get the position. "From the body language of the president it was obvious he wanted Femi,and we could not go ahead to disparage the wishes of the leader of the party," a source in the Dogora camp said.

Addressing members of the Abuja chapter of the Ilobu Development Association on monday, Honorable Lasun said that the pressure being mounted on him to resign would amount to nothing because he was duly elected for the position. Honourable Lasun stress that those suggesting his resignation, as a way of resolving the leadership tussle in the House, only wanted to reap where the did not sow. He claimed that Ilobu remain one of the strongest APC holds in the country, explaining that his emergence as the Deputy Speaker was nature's way of rewarding loyalty to the party by his constituents.

A man and woman of Nigeria origin have been  arrested over claims that they forced  Nigerian  women into prostitution  and deployed voodoo  to  keep their victims under their control, Spanish police said. The two suspects were arrested on a warrant issued by Norway after a Nigerian woman lodged a complaint against them in Oslo. Spanish police said the pair promised their victims, who were living in extreme poverty, a job and that the would cover their travel expenses . They would then force them to become prostitutes. The two suspects were arrested at their home with police finding false identity documents and several objects linked to the rituals there.

On Ekweremadu The House voted in Ekweremadu as Deputy senate President. We thank God that David Mark did not emerge the Senate President because they would have said that it is Constitutional. We should give kudos to Tinubu because of his role in the influence that brought the PDP governors into APC. He wooed Saraki and Atiku and he knew how he went into the PDP and played all those games.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo disclosed how the Government of former head of state, the late General Sani Abacha planned to kill him with an injection, but God protected him . He also disclosed how his late friend, General Shehu Yar' Adua was killed in a Port Harcourt Prison. Obasanjo and his former deputy, as head of state, Yar' Adua, were among those who were convicted by a Kangaroo military tribunal for participating in a phantom coup. According to Obasanjo, he was serving his 15 years jail term in Jos before he was transferred to the Yola prison but on the day he was to depart for Yola, he was made to meet a doctor sent to kill him gradually with a lethal injection, but he escaped the trap. According to him, he was told by a warder that a man, whom he later found to be a doctor, came to see him for a medical reasons and said the Abacha government was  worried about his health and mandated him to come and check his cholesterol problem.  I knew very well that I had no cholesterol problem. I was slightly diabetic and surprisingly, my sugar level had been consistently normal. I told the man firmly that I did not need a blood cholesterol test and that the minor medical problem I had was diabetes. I checked my blood sugar level regularly and I was quite satisfied with my result. Obviously, he did not expect the reaction he got from me. He had to put his syringe and needle back and said to me that later, they would follow up in my new location. He did not happy but there was not much else he could do with me at that junction. As I came to realise later, Shehu Yar' Adua went through the same process, during which he must have been injected with what eventually killed him. I could only attribute the stand I took to the will and guidance of God. i had no premonition or tip-off," he recounted.

Nigeria's Artiste Rules Again At MAMA Award South Africa.

Nigeria again dominated this year's MTV Africa Music Awards, MAMA, carting away most of the coveted trophies. Leading the way was Davido, who retained his title as Africa's Best male Artiste of the year. Yemi Alade won the Best Female category while P-Square was voted as Best Group and also Artist of the Decade. Patoranking went home with the Best New Act trophy, Dorobucci was rated as the song of the Year and the Kokomaster, D'banj won the maiden MAMA Evolution. The joint effort of South Africa artiste- AKA, Da LES & JR and Nigeria's Burna Boy was rated as the Best Collaboration. "One of the Boko Haram suspects presented to Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, said he was given 5,000 Naira to burn our school," an official of the Borno State Government told channels Television on Saturday. 10 feared dead, houses set ablaze as Boko Haram launches fresh attacks on Borno villages. Suspected members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect on Friday evening invaded Sabon Gari, Manjakwa villages of Hawul Local Government Area of Borno state killing no fewer than 10 residents with several others injured. The insurgents according to reliable sources from the area stormed the village at about 9pm with AK47 rifles and petrol bombs, which they used in setting many houses ablaze after killing innocent residents and looted their farm produce. The insurgents also snatched one of the three new brand Hilux patrol vehincles donated to vigilante group by one spirited individual (names withheld) who hail from the area. The terrorists according to Mallam Yakubu Isa Manjakwa came in large numbers, wrecked havoc and succeeded in sacking the whole of the farming communities. "So far, we have counted 9 people, while one person out of the many others that sustained injuries died this morning (Saturday) as a result of severe gunshot wounds ," Isa said.

The Judge said the court was convinced that the allegation against the accused had been proved beyond reasonable doubt. It would be recalled that the convict committed the crime in 2012 in his home, where himself, the victim, and her mother lived. It led to his subsequent arrest and trial, following the intervention of Ogun State chapter of Child Protection Network, CPN, an umbrella body of non-governmental organisations, NGOs.

Suspect dies in police custody, corpse missing. Warri Human rights activist and lawyer, Mr. Ogehnejabor Ikimi, has called on the Assistant Inspector General, AIG, of police, Zone 5, Benin, Edo State, to order an independent and impartial inquest into an alleged exral-judicial killing of Mr Ejovi Edaferiemu, a mechanic, by police in Belta State and the disappearance of his corpse. Ikimi said police officers from "B" Division, Warri, on June 15, arrested Edaferiemu and Shuibu for allegedly abandoning a stolen vehicle near the former's workshop in warri and subjected them to inhuman treatment. He said his clients, Frank Okodu, Yakubu Shaibu and Yunusa Salifu, searched in vain for the suspects at "B" Division, warri, and various police stations in the oil city and environs until June 25, when one of them located Shaibu at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Asaba. He said: "One of our clients was granted access, on June 25, to see and speak with one of the suspects, who informed our said client that Mr. Ejovi Edaferiemu and himself were arrested at the same time by the men of "B" Division, Warri. "Shaibu revealed that Edaferiemu was tortured to death in his presence on June 18, by men of the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Asaba, after both of them were transferred to Asaba. "He said, it was after the death of Edaferiemu that he was rushed to hospital for treatment by the said policemen at Asaba, after he collapsed from the tortures meted out on him

Nigeria "jams" Radio Biafra signal. The Nigeria Govrnment says it has successfully jammed the signals of Biafra Radio, a new channel that has been accused of speading propaganda. The permanent secretary in the Ministry of Information, Shade Yemi-Esan, made this know today(Tuesday). Speaking with journalists at the presidential villa after briefing President Muhammadu Buhari on the activities of her ministry, Ms. Yemi-Esan said the Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation successfully blocked the signals of the radio station. Radio Biafra was floated by some Nigerias in the south east of the country. While its backers say the radio caters for the needs of people from the rigion, the network is also known from propagating the ideology of the former secessionist Republic of Biafra. "Right now the signals from radio Biafra have been jammed successfully by the NBC," Ms. Yemi-Esan said. "The commission is also working with security agencies to get those that are behind that radio because it is an illegal radio, it is not licensed by anybody to be on the airwaves in Nigeria," she said.

Robbers attack Edo police patrol van, kill 3. Suspected armed robbers, yesterday opened fire on the patrol vehicle of Edo State Anti-Robbery Squard (SARS), killing two policemen and civilian. The policemen were said to be on patrol around Egba Police Division, near the Benin-Auchi by-pass, when the robbers opened fire on them.
